(Joshua 1:2-3)
"Moses my servant is dead. Now then, you and all these people, get
ready to cross the Jordan River into the land I am about to give to
them--to the Israelites. I will give you every place where you set
your foot, as I promised Moses."
The people of God had just finished traveling through the wilderness
for 40 years. They had witnessed the miracles of the "Great Man of
God" ... you know, Moses! He was amazing. Miracles abounded through
his life. The Red Sea parted, the manna fell from heaven, water came
from a rock, fire fell from heaven, healings happened ... the list
goes on! A whole generation brought through the wilderness to the
point of destiny ... and then the great leader dies... and here are
God's people stuck in the Wilderness!
It would require a people that
understood the next miracle would happen through them... not just
another leader... to apprehend the destiny and promises of God.
The destiny was in front of them... a land of promise... a land
meant to be inherited by them. The obstacles would never be
conquered by a leader... they would be conquered by normal people,
lowly priests, men and women, shepherd boys! It wasn't a Joshua
who stepped into the Jordan on that day and watched it part... it
was a group of men carrying nothing but the Glory of God. They had
spent the better part of the previous few days determining to be
"holy" and set apart for God's purposes. Joshua simply was the
true apostolic representative of God. He stirred up the purposes
and destinies of God in the people to such a degree that they
became not only willing, but ready to act on the promises.
True apostolic always brings people to
the point of apprehending what God intends for them! It's not enough
to have the words given in the wilderness on CD and tapes to play
over and over again for many years.... an apostolic people steps
into the promises of God, because that is their destiny. Paul
"did not fail to accomplish" the vision God gave him, neither should
we!
Could it be that the wilderness
experience of the church is over? Could it be that God is raising up
heralds to point to the Harvest beyond the River!
I believe we are headed into the
most awesome experience of the Lord's outpouring ever released to
this earth! We are living the "Kairos Moment" now! A generation is
rising up as never before, not simply from the leadership of the
church, not simply from the normal religious places... but
throughout the earth, we are seeing a groundswell of normal people
touching the lost.... healing the sick ... yes, even raising the
dead!
This is not the wilderness
generation... this is the Harvest Generation... the Generation that
sees fulfillment of promises and Destiny! Come... cross the river!
